Age 16-Adult Tuesdays: September 17 & 24 (Registering for both workshops) 6:00pm-7:30pm Location: St. Gerard's Hall, Frederiksted, Next to St. Patrick's School A fun and challenging exploration of the basics of Capoeira, the Afro-Brazilian “dance fight game” a combination of movement and music. Adult participants will learn the history, movement and music of Capoeira. This includes the African triumph over oppression in colonial Brazil using, Capoeira, Candomblé and other African based practices. The movement is graceful and challenging. The music is a great introduction to percussion and singing in Portuguese. What to wear: Comfortable, loose fitting, clothing. Long pants and t-shirts comfortable light sneakers or barefoot. Bring Water! All skill levels welcome! Females & Males welcome! About the Instructor: Capoeira St Croix has been a collection of capoeira practitioners and teachers of diverse backgrounds and experiences all sharing their love for capoeira since 2001. Nathan Bishop is the organizer and of instructor of this group. He was born and raised on St. Croix and has practiced Capoeira for 25 years. He is a jeweller at Crucian Gold, husband to Therese Trudeau, father to Necha and Lucia Bishop, son of Brian Bishop.
