The Lindy Hop is still a popular dance today and is danced all over the world. She has a background in ballet and modern dance, but about 15 years ago she discovered all the fun, connection, and sense of community that ballroom dancing has to offer. From 2011-2018, Katie served as the director of Dancing Classrooms VI, providing in-school programming to 5th and 8th graders across the Territory in the art of social dance. She recently wrapped up the second year of the Virgin Islands Social Dance Collaborative, where 8th graders at John H. Woodson Jr. High School learned to dance Merengue, Quadrille, Waltz, Salsa, Swing and more. Katie is excited to share the joy of Swing at the upcoming CMCArts dance series, which is ranked #1 and considered the favorite of all ballroom dances by her students.
