In-School Workshop Series
A multi-visit residency experience where the artist works with the same classroom of students over 2–4 visits. This model allows for deeper learning, skill-building, and relationship development over time. Artists design sequential lessons that may build toward a final project, performance, or classroom presentation. These workshops take place in schools across St. Croix and may serve students from kindergarten through high school, depending on the artist’s focus.
During the school year, CMCArts Artist-in-Residence program focuses on K–12 student engagement across St. Croix through flexible teaching opportunities in schools and at CMCArts. Artists support the CMCArts Education Team by creating a program design aligned with their artistic practice and discipline.
After-School Program
A consistent weekly or twice a week program held at CMCArts for youth ages 8–12. These are 2-hour creative sessions that emphasize hands-on exploration, experimentation, and community building. Artists design engaging projects that can evolve over time or function as stand-alone creative experiences, depending on the residency structure.
Meet an Artist
(One-Time Classroom Visit)
A single, high-impact school visit that includes a brief artist introduction or talk followed by a hands-on creative activity. This format is designed to introduce students to new artistic practices in an accessible way. Artists may conduct multiple one-time visits across different schools and classrooms, with CMCArts coordinating scheduling, transportation, and in-class support.
