In 1983, she delved into the philosophy of consciousness in her MA thesis, titled 'Art as a Means of Raising Consciousness.' Following her participation in the International Conference of Science and Consciousness in Albuquerque, NM, in 1999, Male completed an MFA focusing on "Chaos Theory and Fractal Geometry as it Relates to Consciousness."
