Saturday, July 25 4pm-6pm Must be 14-18 years old. Remember to bring your cell phone for this workshop. Join CMCArts for a hands-on photography experience with Kevin FaKtor and George Cannon W. III designed for teens. Participants will learn practical tips for composing stronger photographs, working with light, and capturing compelling images. After a brief photography lesson, the group will head out on a guided walk through town to put their new skills into practice while exploring St. Croix through a creative lens. About the Instructors: George W. Cannon III is a St. Croix-based filmmaker, director, and co-founder of Blue Tarp Productions. Passionate about developing the film industry in the U.S. Virgin Islands, he has directed the award-winning short films Bulletproof Dreams, and Fall. George is also the creator and director of the Film Over Gun Violence program, where he mentors young filmmakers and empowers Virgin Islands youth to tell impactful stories through the art of film. Through his work, he is committed to elevating Caribbean voices and creating authentic films by Virgin Islanders, for Virgin Islanders. Kevin Faktor is a St. Croix-based filmmaker, photographer, and visual storyteller with a passion for capturing authentic Caribbean stories through film and photography. His work spans documentary, narrative, and community-based projects, with a focus on highlighting the people, culture, and landscapes of the U.S. Virgin Islands. Kevin serves as a mentor in the Film Over Gun Violence youth program, where he teaches filmmaking and photography while inspiring the next generation of Virgin Islands creatives to use visual storytelling as a tool for expression and positive change.
