Age 7-15 Tuesday: June 17 4:45pm-5:45pm Location: St. Gerard's Hall (St. Patrick School), Frederiksted Avoid the paperwork and register online. . This high-energy class blends the expressive style and technique of jazz dance with the rhythm, groove, and attitude of hip hop. Dancers will explore a fusion of movements that incorporate jazz elements alongside hip hop fundamentals. Class will encompass a dynamic warm-up that focuses on flexibility, strength, and core control, followed by across-the-floor progressions that develop coordination, musicality, and stylistic range. Dancers will then learn a choreographed combination that challenges their performance quality, creativity, and ability to transition smoothly between jazz precision and hip hop swagger. This class encourages personal style, performance confidence, and versatility. Whether you're looking to sharpen your technique or expand your movement vocabulary, Jazz Hip Hop Fusion offers a fun and empowering environment to grow as a dancer. Bring Water. Essi Gaston-Edwards is an instructor and ensemble member at Caribbean Dance School, and also serves as a Health, Modern Dance, and Physical Education teacher at St. Croix Educational Complex High School (SCECHS). For the past 17 years, Mrs. Gaston-Edwards has been an integral part of SCECHS, where she directs the Marching Band Auxiliary Unit—an ensemble that includes Cheer, Dance, Color Guard, and Majorettes. Most recently, Mrs. Gaston-Edwards led the SCECHS Dance Ensemble on an Educational Performance Dance Tour in California. This unique experience allowed students to showcase their talents while participating in world-class training and cultural exploration. The ensemble took a master class at Millennium Dance Complex, known as Hollywood’s hottest dance studio and a premier destination for commercial dance training. Widely recognized as "the place where it all happens," Millennium Dance Complex provided an opportunity for students to enhance their technical skills and experience the discipline required of professional dancers. The SCECHS Dance Ensemble was also featured as the main entertainment at Universal Studios and Disneyland, proudly representing the U.S. Virgin Islands. Under the direction and choreography of Mrs. Gaston-Edwards, the group delivered a high-energy, 20-minute nonstop performance that captivated audiences and celebrated the culture and talent of the Virgin Islands.
